Six's Loss And Love

Bruce Von Stiers

Diana Cignoni is an actor, director and producer. I reviewed one of her films, Blood Wolf, a couple of years ago. Diana's latest effort is a short film titled Six. She directed the film and was an Executive Producer for it. The film was produced through Diana's company, Ground Hero Film.

In one sense the film is a tribute to actor Harry Hains. He had been in a couple of films that Diana was involved in. Hains died at age twenty-seven in January of 2020 from accidental fentanyl intoxication.

The lead character in the film is a young woman named Six. Hence the title of the film. Six had a connection with Harry Hains. That connection was both kinetic and philosophical.

While at the cemetery visiting Harry's grave, Six meets Neil. He also had a connection with Harry, only just as a fan. And as they both had a connection to Harry; it would make sense that they form a connection with each other.

But beyond paying minor homage to Harry Hains, this film seeks to show that the normal rules on relationships are outdated and that people should be able to follow their feelings, moving away from the restrictions that society has placed in the way.

That's kind of what Six wants to do. That is, break free of those restrictions. But Six has a girlfriend, Erica, whom she loves. It seems Erica has some trust issues, so can she willingly share Six with Neil?

Megan Nison starred as Six. She has been a model with LA Models, which fits with her character in the film, who had also been a model.

Neil was played by Jack West. He is primarily a singer/songwriter. Having been on stage with the likes of Eddie Vetter, Jack is set to do a gig in the UK this fall at the Bedford in London.

Lindsey Lemke was Erica. Lindsey played Traci Lords in an episode of The Price of Fame, was featured in Virgin Cheerleaders In Chains and was seen in an episode of Perry Mason.

The Cinematography was done by Pavel Gazdyuk. He has worked as a camera operator on several films as well as a gaffer on a few others.

Music and sound design was from Peter Kneser . He is a composer for such shows as Wahlburgers and Kevin Hart's Muscle Car Crew. And the film was edited by Tanya Glebova, who edited such films as Am I Beautiful and Absurdity of Certainty.

Script consultants for the film were Britt Enggren, a well known casting director and Peter Samoilo, who has been a screenwriter for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and Braven Films.

Six was a very interesting film. Beyond highlighting the feeling of loss that Six had for Harry Hains, the film explores both the strength and frailty of relationships when a third person becomes part of the equation.

Six is not available at this time. Before there is a full release of Six, Diana Cignoni will be offering the film to various film festivals. There are many film festivals that accept short films for consideration, so Six should find its way to at least a few of them.

There is a trailer for Six on the Ground Hero Film web site. There, you can also learn a little bit more about the production company and other films from them. The site can be found at https://www.groundherofilm.org/
