I normally don’t listen to female Christian singers. We have a few in our music collection, albums by Sandi Patti, Twila Paris and others. But those are really my wife’s. Therefore, I am not too familiar with most of the talented women of faith who are spreading God’s word through their music. I have recently discovered that this lack of knowledge has caused me to miss out on some outstanding talent in Christian music. One such talent is Sarah Hart. She has released a couple of albums. Her latest release is Obvious. It was released by OCP Productions.
There are 12 songs on Obvious. Each song was co-written by Sarah. It was produced by Phil Nash and engineered by Ronnie Brookshire. Nash has worked with artists like Michael Card and Stephen Curtis Chapman.
The first song on the album is In The End. It is about finally getting to Heaven and having God forgiving us. The song says “I cannot alter what has passed, but you forget what I regret.”
The second song is You Know The Way. The song reaches out to a person who is feeling lost and away from God. It reminds us that God is always there, waiting for us.
Each of the songs has Sarah’s strong vocals and light background music. This is an album that is carried by the vocal talents of the artist and not by instruments or electronic gimmicks.
The Breastplate of St. Patrick is about how Christ surrounds us every moment of the day. “Christ is with me and before me” is the strong message of the song.
Faces of Our Friends is about seeing God in the faces of the people who are our friends. It goes “in the faces of our friends you are obvious.” It has some interesting instrumentals between the verses.
Take This Offering is about the singer offering her life up to Jesus. Make Me A Channel asks God use the singer as an instrument of peace, truth, and “a messenger of love.”
Any Road is telling a person about how they are traveling down any road that will take them. They are lost, not knowing God. But if they stop and follow that road that God has provided, things will be better.
You Alone is a tribute to God. “You alone are worthy to be honored and praised” speaks to the awesomeness and grace of God.
Other songs on the album are I Will Look Up, I Will Have Faith In You, In You In Me and Im Not Alone.
Sarah Hart is sure to be one of Contemporary Christian music’s leading female performers. She has often been compared to Twila Paris. Sarah’s lilting vocals are a treat to anyone who listens to her songs.
