Ivo's Paranoid Dream

Bruce Von Stiers

Ivo is just an average guy. But he has a problem. He keeps having this dream, a nightmare really, where there's a guy with a sledgehammer about to commit murder. Or something like that. But when Ivo wakes up, he doesn't understand the dream. Was the man in the dream really him? Or was it someone else? He can't fathom that. That is the beginning of the short thriller film, Paranoia.

Ivo keeps getting freaked out. And his musical partner, Kate, is on his case, letting him know that he couldn't kill a fly. And that he has to get it together as they have a gig coming up.

But as he is on a walk, getting some fresh air, Ivo bumps into a man. Then he has a flash of something like what was in the dream. Was the man he bumped into a killer? Still trying to figure things out, Ivo watches a YouTube video about dreams and clairvoyance.

Then a chance siting of the man he bumped into leads Ivo into more of a downward spiral. He ends up putting himself into a potentially dangerous situation.

Zahari Turmanov played Ivo. He starred in the short drama film Hesitation and did the fight choreography for this film. Oh yes, did I mention that there's a pretty intense fight scene in the film?

Simona Rose played Kate. She is a producer and cinematographer along with acting. She starred in two films I've reviewed, Drums and The Whisper 2: Natural Connection. Simona was also in another film I recently reviewed, Onlyfangs.

Miroslav Petkov played the man Ivo bumped into, who may be a murderer. In addition to acting in the film, he also directed it. He's directed more than a dozen films and has acted in quite a few, including Onlyfangs and Desert Fiends.

Both Petkov and Simona Rose are originally from Bulgaria. The dialog in this film is primarily spoken in Bulgarian. The dream videos that Ivo watches are done in English.

Other actors appearing in the film are Velin Borata, Desi Kraleva and Nathan Shepka.

The production company for Paranoia was Enigma Film Productions. Led by Miroslav Petkov and Simona Rose, the production company is noted for their short thriller films.

Paranoia lives up to its title. Ivo is so paranoid that he alienates his musical partner and puts himself in mortal danger. The story is pretty solid with a twist that you might not see coming. Turmanov does a good job portraying Ivo and Rose is cute as the blue haired Kate and Petkov's character is fairly mellow, until he isn't.
