Joveth's Loney Boy
Bruce Von Stiers
Joveth is a young musical artist. His music has been described as a blend of rock, soul, pop, R & B and EDM.
Joveth has a distinct ethnic background. He was born in the Philippines but was raised in Sweden. Growing up there, he began making music at 12 years old. Then in his late teens, Joveth moved to the U.S. Once there, Joveth began to delve into the underground music culture of Southern California.
The result of Joveth's exploration of that underground music scene is a six song EP. The title of the EP is Lonely Boy. It has been released on the Voracious Records label.
Bubblegum is about a past relationship. It ended but he's still carrying a torch, sort of. He's drinking his problems and remembrances away. The song has a solid beat and fluid vocals.
Burn It has a tone that blends several styles together. Although it has a moderate beat, the lyrics are a bit dark.
We're Over is a slow dance track that's about him strongly ending their relationship.
Say My Name is a cool beat driven song. The lyrics show a certain harsh psychology. Is he singing about himself or someone else?
Money Can't Buy Happiness is a moderately paced song. The title says it all. He knows that you can be happy and have a good relationship without having a lot of money.
The title track, Loney Boy, is a heartfelt, mellow, lyrical tune. It kind of reminded me of some of the lighter songs of bands such as Backstreet Boys. But also, possibly a sliver of John Legend or The Weekend. Those are two of the artists that Joveth says have been inspirations for his music.
Joveth might just to be on his way to becoming a viable force in pop music. His songs have the right sound that seems to fit with the current underground music scene. The lyrics tend to be angst filled at times, but the vocals are fluid.
Joveth has also been involved in production and visual media. He has produced lyric videos for each of the songs on the Lonely Boy EP.
Joveth has an official website where you can learn more about him and his music. That site is https://www.joveth.com/
