Todd's Interesting Job Interview

Bruce Von Stiers

There are times when an incident in a person's life becomes completely overwhelming. Something in Todd's life was so devastating that there might be only one way out. But he will try to distract himself by going to a job interview. That is the premise for a short sci-fi drama film titled The Job.

Todd is listening to a song in his car, when he pulls up to a building. Reaching into the glovebox to retrieve a pair of glasses, the audience sees a gun. But what is the gun for?

Going into the building, Todd sees a note telling him to have a seat and they'll be right back. He sits down in a chair and listens to the song once again.

But then, being startled by a noise, Todd enters the room with the note. What he finds is a video screen and an unplugged cord. Plugging the cord into a socket brings the video screen to life. On the screen is a woman, Athena 42.0, who is apparently some kind of AI sentient being. She talks to Todd, and it seems that this is going to be his job interview.

Through a series of questions and answers, the full gist of the interview is revealed. The audience gets a glimpse of when Todd was happy and a glimpse of the traumatic event that has caused him immense sorrow.

Dawna Lee Heising played Athena 42.0. She has been in over two hundred fifty feature films, including Realm of Shadows with Tony Todd. Dawna also starred in the campy short comedy film Down and Out in Vampire Hills.

Lejon Stewart played Todd. He starred in the sci-fi horror film, Down for the Count and co-starred in Down and Out in Vampire Hills.

The film was directed by Craig Railsback. He was also the cinematographer. He was the cinematographer for Britney Lost Her Phone and directed films such as Down and Out in Vampire Hills.

The screenplay was by Craig Railsback from a story by Heather Joseph-Witham. Heather wrote the screenplay for Down and Out in Vampire Hills and wrote and directed the documentary, Vampires in the Big Easy.

The film was produced by Joseph Williamson. He was a producer for Realm of Shadows and Cobra Strike Force. Dawna Lee Heising was the Executive Producer.

Renah Wolzinger was also a producer for the film. She also composed the music and she and her husband, Keith Wolzinger, were in charge of the sound for the film. Renah is an educator and proponent of AI. She is a composer for film and media projects. There is a Chat GPT quote at the beginning of the film that helps set up the story.

There is also a song used in the film that I really liked. I found out that both the music and vocals were AI generated. Just goes to show that AI has really advanced to a high level.

The Job is a film that is great for its story of redemption. Due to his interview with Athena, Todd's day takes a turn that he hadn't anticipated. As for the sci-ft element, it was pretty good. But I am still on the fence about AI. I get an uneasy feeling like maybe, there just might truly be Cylons in our future.

The Job is currently making the rounds of film festivals. A formal release date for the film will be announced later.
