Hanging Out In Haddonfield
Bruce Von Stiers
“Every town has it's creepy place. Haddonfield had the Myer's house.” Thus begins the Halloween fan film, Haddonfield.
As the film moves on, there are two girls walking down the street. They see a boy, Max, who is just standing there, staring at a house. Apparently, this is Michael Myers house. They all leave but Max is a bit standoffish. The girls go ahead, and Max ends up trailing behind them. He acts very strangely. Then as he hears something and looks back, Michael Myers peeks out from behind a hedgerow. Or is it really Michael Myers?
Then the story moves on to a couple of cops. Detective Hart and officer Starkweather. They argue and then the chief of police yells at them to get inside the building. The chief goes over the Myers case and then things go a little bit awry.
The film winds its way through the storyline of the original Halloween. Michael Myers has escaped the insane asylum. The police are on the lookout for him. But there seems to be more than just him escaping that is going on. But what?
Other side elements in the story include a rave with a screamer rock band and cops that are pissed off at each other. Then Michael's father, Peter Myers, goes out looking for him. With a gun. That might not end well. A couple at the rave, Debbie and Devon, go off by themselves to make out. That also doesn't go too well. At least for Devon. And when Debbie's friend Crystal comes looking for them, that is a whole other thing.
And then the film moves back to Max, the strange kid, and his family. Max makes a new friend, of sorts.
Katie Kay played Debbie. She starred in Maid Droid Origins and the series Reincarnated Love: Amy's Revenge. Aaron Groben played Devon. He starred in the series The Hidden Billionaire. Debbie's friend Crystal was played by Giselle. Max was played by Marcos Justo. He starred in the film Duck, and played young Michael Myers in another film.
Rich Gordon played Peter Meyers. His previous credits include two films I recently reviewed, Alien Abduction and Milo: The Voyage To Atlantis. Other cast members included Brittney Clarke, Blanca Chive, Angel Chavez, Ave, Sherill Watts Justo, Gabriel Sanchez, Isaiah Sweed and Zachary Hunsinger.
Dillon Kroe was the director. He directed You Can't Kill the Boogeyman, another Halloween fan film.
The film was produced by Dark Crown Films.
Fan films are kind of hit or miss. Some are better than others. Haddonfield is one of those fair to middling ones. The characters in this film are just as clueless as in the original Halloween film. The danger is just as real. But this film is toned down a bit, not having as much eerie music and Micheal doesn't seem quite as menacing. The blood and gore elements are toned down a bit too. But that doesn't mean that the suspense is any less. As with any film in the Halloween realm, this one has Michael stalking and killing people and a sex addled couple making it easy for him.
